How to:

Amend default investment strategy online

This process makes it easier to manage investment strategies for wrappers not linked via Model Portfolio Manager. This efficient online journey means you can update strategies and request an ad hoc rebalance online.

Key things to remember

Default strategy total:

  • The default strategy must add up 100% for any amendment to the wrapper default strategy.

Minimum percentage:

  • You must hold a minimum of 1% in the cash facility of each wrapper.

Decimal places:

  • A maximum of 2 decimal places must be used.

Models attached to the wrapper:

  • If a model is attached to the wrapper, you’ll be unable to amend the default strategy and any changes to the default strategy must be done via MPM (Model Portfolio Manager).

New business:

  • For any new business cases that have been submitted before amending the default strategy this will not be updated. The new business monies will be applied into the old investment strategy.

Adviser Zone journey

From the Adviser Zone dashboard:

Select ‘Go to Investor’

or use the search bar at the top to search via the client’s name.

Go into the wrapper

Select ‘Amend Default Investment Strategy’ from the buttons on the top right

A screen will show the current strategy. You can amend the percentage, add new assets or remove assets.

  • You’ll be able to search for new funds using the fund name, ISIN number or Sedol.
  • For regular contributions that are due to be invested into the current default strategy, this will be updated to go into the new default strategy going forward.

Below the fund summary, you’ll be asked if you’d like to instruct an ad hoc rebalance on the wrapper

  • Choose: Yes or No
  • The ad hoc rebalance will then sell out of the old investments and purchase into the updated default strategy holdings to reflect the changes made.

Once you’ve finished making changes, click confirm and submit

  • If an ad hoc switch isn’t instructed, the holdings will remain in the previous strategy until a rebalance is instructed, but any regular new money will be invested into the new strategy.

What happens next

Once you’ve successfully submitted the new default strategy online, the changes will be effective straight away.

If you choose an ad hoc rebalance, then once you’ve made the relevant alterations within the amend default investment strategy journey,  the wrapper strategy changes can take 10-14 working days to match the fund allocations within the default strategy.
