We are partnered with technology firm Credas Technologies Ltd to use biometric verification in certain circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subject to Adviser consent, clients who historically required copies of ID and bank statements to verify their identity will be invited to take a \u2018selfie\u2019 by the software on a smart device, followed by taking a picture of a photographic identity document. The technology, which works by calculating distances between key features on the face, will compare both facial images to verify identity and check the integrity of the corroborative document. It\u2019s even clever enough to take ageing and hair style changes into consideration!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step-by-step guide<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. In the email you\u2019ve received from us, open the link to the Credas website.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Once this has loaded, select the \u2018Let\u2019s get started\u2019 button to start the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Familiarise yourself with the terms and conditions and select confirm if you understand
    and agree to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. If you opened the link using a mobile or tablet, please skip to step 6. If you\u2019re using a computer or laptop, you will be given the option to proceed by either switching to mobile or continuing on desktop. Please note that to continue on desktop, you\u2019ll need a camera connected to your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5. If you choose to switch to mobile, simply point your camera at the QR code and open the link in your mobile\/tablet browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    6. Next, select which government issued ID you\u2019d like to use. This can be a passport (recommended), driving license or national identification card. Then select \u2018Save and continue\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    7. You\u2019ll now need to take a clear picture of your chosen ID, ensuring that the whole document is visible and avoiding any glare or reflections. You may have to grant access for your device\u2019s camera to be used. When happy with the photo, select \u2018Submit\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    8. When successfully verified, a screen that reads \u2018All seems well on our end, let\u2019s move on\u2019 should display. If there are any issues, you may be prompted to retake the photo of your ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    9. Next, you\u2019ll be asked to take a photo of yourself to verify that the ID you submitted belongs to you. Once you\u2019re happy with the photo, select \u2018Submit\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    10. After this has been submitted, you may or may not be asked to take a second photo of yourself copying a particular action, such as placing the tip of your finger on your cheek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    11. Next, fill out your personal details (first name, last name and address) and your bank account details (account name, account number and sort code). Then select \u2018Save and continue\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    12. You\u2019re all done! If there are any issues with your submissions which mean we are still unable to verify your bank details, we will reach out to you.
